Honoring the Sadness

What a difference a day makes. When the words of this post first found their way to paper my feelings found me in a much different place. The emotional disconnect was weaving it's way through my DNA and there wasn't much I could do to defend it. The wallowing took me by surprise and rendered me helpless to it's inflictions but my self preservation took hold just in a knick of time.

Today is a very different day and as I let the moment seize me, the smile that reaches my eyes sends sparkles ahead of me like the shooting stars you wish upon. The past is history. The future is a mystery and this moment is a gift. That's why this moment is called the present.

With that said and my intention in tow, today finds me realizing that wishing things were different is a waste of time and energy. There is always a way to heed the lesson in the adventure and figure out a way to be happy in the sadness. Things don't always happen the way we expect them to but that's the problem with expectation, preconceived notions left to follow suit with your conjecture will leave you depleted and lost.

Sadness is vulnerable, it can seem lonely and it can leave you feeling detached, but sadness can also bring you out onto a threshold of elevation. Sadness is a state of mind and can't a state of mind be altered? Mind over matter right?

Finding the strength will help you release that which is making you sad. For me the clarity comes from my tears. My tears give me strength and they help me move on. Like the snow that covers the earth like a blanket to keep it warm for the winter, so do my tears comfort me.

The clarity shows me that the Universe gives you what you need not always what you want. Think of the things that leave your life as gifts from the Universe because it opens you up to other things and shows you new perspectives in your growth. Welcome the change and embrace where your road will take you next. Skip forward and don't look back.

A little reminder never hurts either...

There has to be a window
So you can see past the waters edge
A wondrous rainbow of color awaits you,
If you just believe in what’s been said

If you listen to your heart
The words can speak in volumes
But you can’t fear the past
That’s been leaving you unraveled

The unknown is where
The answers are revealed
If you can keep the faith
In the truths that are concealed

Open up the lid
of your life unlived
And all your truest passions
Will come rushing to be fulfilled

Even though in times of trouble
it’s hard to understand
Let your life catch up to you
and gently hold your hand

Know you were made with love
in the eyes of happiness and glory
And know that you were meant to be
A happily Ever After kind of story

A Four Part Series

It's amazing how different we all are.  Our perceptions really do make us truly unique.  The way we view life, the things we say, what we do and the company we keep, says a lot about who we are.  Our approach to any given situation is our tell.  We have our philosophies, our belief systems and our convictions.  The principles we follow are based on views that agree with our ideologies.

Fundamentally we must evolve like a tree of life.  If there is an immanent desire to be better, to learn more, and to prosper then our natural development is inevitable.  We will innately find new and innovative ways to stretch ourselves to new limits.

Do our impressions change as we grow?  Most certainly.  Does our thinking adjust as we learn new things?  It would have to.  Do we adapt by coming up with innovative ideas for self-motivation?  We do when where we are isn't good enough anymore.

This series we are about to embark upon is born from many conversations with one of my best friends.  She is embarking on the art of revision and adaptation. Like the rest of us, she is learning new things about herself as her circumstances and relationship statuses change.

"Life is about change and it is those that resist that change that shall fall upon their greatest obstacle, themselves".       ~Pepper Carlson

We can all tap into our own resources.  We can adorn ourselves in the jewels of wisdom and transformation.  We can look within to see that if we don't make an attempt at evolution we will stifle our creative resources.  If we don't learn to take care of ourselves we will be off balance.  We don't want to stumble through our lives.

My friend has been a huge source of encouragement for me.  In one of our most recent conversations, she shared with me her excitement about an epiphany she had.  She kept calling it her left brain right brain.  During a recent moment of motivation, she was getting ready to work out when all of a sudden part of her brain thought, "Instead of working out I could watch my new Netflix or catch up on some reading or take a nap."  The voice of that side of her brain was loud and clear and had other ideas that didn't include a gym.  But then the other side of her brain was like, "No!  Go work out.  You're dressed, you'll feel good, now get to it."

It worked.  She was able to redirect that part of her that was trying to keep her down.  And the excitement in her eyes when she was telling this story was like she had placed first in a marathon.  Accomplishment!  She figured out a way that works for her to quiet the disparaging voice of the side of her that has a mind of it's own.  Now when she finds herself in a conflicting predicament she taps into her own power of motivation.

This kind of self conflict got me thinking.  We know we can be our own worst enemies, our own worst dichotomies, and we can seal our own fate.  But what if how we view ourselves and the conflict we put ourselves through is an ego driven fallacy?  What if we can override, or join forces with our selves by implementing a relationship directly with the selves as separate entities?

There are many sides to every story right?  And we are all our own story right?  Well how many sides does our story have exactly?  Can there even be more than one?

This is going to be a journey into hypothesis.  I leave it up to you to decide what belief system works best for you, if any.  Or you can be like me and just embrace the possibilities.  Theories were meant to be mulled over and tested and squeezed and stretched beyond the imagination.  I am not sure where this is going to take us.  But I must admit I am excited to find out what I have to say about it all.  I don't know how long each part will be or how long this will take me but hopefully it will all make sense and the rhetoric is persuasive in that it challenges you to delve even deeper into your journey.

Self forgiveness, encouragement, conflict, tests, strength, will, creativity, intellect, emotional, serious, consistent, supportive, rhetorical.

Part I  -  What Side Are You On Anyway?

Part II -  A Conscious Whisper

Part III - Is That An Angel On Your Shoulder?

Part IV - Hearing the Silence

Decisions Decisions

You ever notice that when you are consciously making the right decisions everything flows freely and effortlessly?  I call these gifts from the Universe.  But I missed out on a lot of gifts.  I have always been one to learn things the hard way.  But I have decided to change all that.

Once upon a time years ago when I was in my breakup get back together phase with one of my exes I realized that when we stayed a part everything was going well for me.  But inevitably since we hadn't quite let go yet we would fall back into our pattern of hooking up.  We would have a great time but then all of a sudden something unfortunate would happen to me.  I would joke with one of my friends about it until one day we realized what was happening and the happenings were getting more and more obvious and more and more instantaneous after seeing him.

One day I realized that I was getting used to the gifts I was receiving from the Universe and I didn't want the gifts to go away.  I started paying more attention to the choices I made and the things I thought about.  Some of it made me laugh it was so obvious and sometimes it wasn't so funny.  It was actually painful.  Because, you know, the truth hurts.

I could be doing the mundane day to day and then suddenly hurt my toe, or burn my finger, or break a nail.  Actually hurt myself for real.  And when I stopped to think about what I was thinking about when the unfortunate accident occurred I was thinking things I had no business thinking about anymore!  Nutty but true!

Thoughts really are influential and when accompanied by power vocabulary the possibilities are endless.  We don't want to get trapped in our wrong decisions.  We want to be empowered by the choices we make and we want to build a strong foundation for positive growth.

Everyone loves getting gifts.  Whether they come with 4 wheels and a bow or in a little small blue box, gifts make us smile.  And what about the gifts we give to ourselves?  The gift of consciously engaging in our own lives and assisting the Universe in giving us what we need.  These are gifts we can receive everyday.  The decision to live life to the fullest and be truthful to ourselves about what is good for us and what we should shy away from.  These healthy decisions help us grow and prosper.  They help keep us healthy and nurtured.  They will most certainly keep us smiling.  And if you are anything like me, once you start receiving these amazing gifts from the Universe, you will want them to keep on coming.

What are your decisions bringing you today?
